Step 1

Careful Selection and Purchase

We personally select cattle and sheep from trusted sources and stock sales, focussing on animals that meet our strict standards for health, condition, and potential. Our decades of experience mean we can spot quality stock that will deliver the results your customers expect.

Step 2

Ethical Farm Management and Animal Husbandry

Selected animals are brought to our family farm, Greenhills, in Malmsbury where they are carefully raised, completely free to roam on our wide open pastures. We grass feed all of our stock and in colder months when feed is light on the ground, we supplement with quality hay. If we are experiencing a particularly harsh Winter, we may give them high-quality grain. We don’t feed grass pellets or other processed products in order to obtain official “100% grass-fed” certification. And we believe the health and well-being of our stock is more important than maintaining a label so we cannot claim to always be 100% grain-free. We have an expert team of farming professionals that work with us full time to monitor their health, and ensure they're handled with care throughout their time with us. This hands-on approach guarantees the consistency your business needs.

Any stock that is purchased and brought to our farm are given a one-off UltraVac injection, which is given to all cattle and sheep in Australia. This then protects our other stock and ensures that from then on, all of our stock is raised free from vaccines (incl MRNa vaccine), antibiotics, Bovaer or any growth additives or hormones, and are completely raised and finished free-range. The only reason why they cannot be classed as “certified free-range” is because they are not bred on our property – but you can have complete confidence that all Highland Meats are from animals that have been raised on natural pasture and are completely free-range from the moment they arrive at Greenhills.

It is here at Greenhills, that we breed an exclusive line of Southdown Charolais X sheep - producing our line of Greenhills Natural Lamb. Our cattle breeding farm is located just down the road at the base of Mt Macedon. Here we breed an exclusive line of high quality Angus-Limousin X cattle.

We do bring in stock from time to time to boost the herd as needed, but for the most part, our exclusive Greenhills Natural Beef and Lamb is the result of decades of careful breeding, expert animal husbandry and generations of good ol’ Aussie farming.

Step 3

Expert Meat Processing Victoria

The final and sometimes, most important step, is how animals are processed. We only work with abattoirs that share our commitment to quality and animal welfare. We recently relocated our production at great expense to our operations because we will never compromise on the ethical management, handling and treatment of our livestock and sustainable meat farming practices. We don’t subscribe to working with corporates who put profits ahead of care, quality and the respect for our stock.

Our long-standing relationships ensure priority scheduling and careful handling, and our expertise guides the processing to maximise yield and quality for your specific requirements. Members of our team are at the abattoir and directly oversee every step of the process to ensure livestock is treated and handled with absolute respect and the results are the some of the finest beef and lamb available in Australia with a true farm to table wholesale meat supplier.

We don’t export internationally and are committed to feeding Australians with the world’s finest protein.
